Bringing Hope and Nourishment to the Labour Camp Sajja: Iftar with Social Awareness Club

As a student, I had the opportunity to participate in an event that left a deep impression on me. This event is entitled “Bringing Hope and Food to Sajja Labor Camp: Iftar with Social Awareness Club” which aims to provide food to workers who work long hours and do not have access to proper nutrition. Here I'm going to share my experience of going to this event. -Aben Thomas

However, getting to the event was not easy. I had to wait a long time at school because transportation was not provided for me. This left me feeling frustrated, but luckily, my teacher Ms. Febina Rasheed helped me get the necessary permissions from the principal.

Despite the difficulties, I am glad to participate in the event because it is all about helping the poor. It was heartwarming to see so many students come together for a good cause. The event was organized by the Cocina Club, a group of students who love to cook and make a positive impact on the community.

As I walked into the labor camp, I couldn’t help but quote Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist: “I want more, please, sir.” This quote reminds us of the difficulties people face when they don’t have access to basic necessities like food.

When I visited the event, the atmosphere was lively with volunteers eager to serve the workers. Social Awareness Club distributed free food to the workers and it was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces.

Overall, attending the “Bringing Hope and Nourishment to the Labour Camp Sajja” event was a humbling experience. It reminded me that we all have the power to make a positive impact on the world, no matter how small. I am grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful initiative and hope to continue contributing to similar events in the future.

As Charles Dickens said in his book Oliver Twist, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this event and to have played a small role in lightening the burden of the laborers in Sajja.
